It won't matter/helps if its the only single blockdevice connected to the motherboard. Removing the real physical SATA cdrom/dvd drive won't help either still same error message. Expected behaviour: The debian-8.0.0-amd64-netinst.iso must behave the same on a internal blockdevice connected through a internal SATA/PATA/ETC(any mode) controller as on a external blockdevices through a USB controller. A USB connected block device like a pendrive/hdd with the isohybrid image dd't on to it will boot the debian installer and further during the installation process it will detect the cdrom image located on the blockdevice and the installation can finish succesfull.
