Thank you for your follow-up. Due do the openntp process being gone from my server VM for several times and unknown reasons – similar I also saw with xntpd for some time – I switched over to chrony which seems to be reliable so far. I do not use openntpd anymore at the moment and thus have no motivation to follow up on this bug report any further. Feel free to close it.
