thans for reporting this; i can reproduce the problem with the current debian version of openscad. the issue is already fixed in openscad 2015.03, which i'm currently preparing for upload based on hyperair's work. i've had a hard time already trying to fix openscad crashes, and given the new release, i won't look into this much deeper and rather focus on getting the next version into sid, unstable, and backports.
