If gc support was lost upstream, then the fix is not to march ahead and introduce a serious problem. Why have a debian "stable", with testing, and diligence, the whole nine yards if they're going to wildly upgrade packages to versions that break? Not sure about others, but for me this is catastrophic. I used ledger exclusively to harvest data from gnucash. Gnucash is the best user interface, while gnucash is atrocious for scripting and automation (which ledger was good at). Gnucash and ledger need each other. I am disgusted. It's questionable that the support removal was deliberate, since there appears to be an effort to make ledger compatible with gnucash 3.0.
