And I would likle to do that asap, too. But... Practically -gtk3 is still experimental and you need to *manually* enable it. If you only have -gtk3 installed (which would be allowed with an alternative) you get NO GTK integration/UI unless you install -gtk or enable it. (which would most probably give you a poor experience.) And no, no alternative. GNOME is GTK3 so it should be -gtk3 in Depends, not an alternative. 5.0 gets many gtk3 work, so maybe in 5.0 it will be out of experimental, if that is the case I'll do that, yes. Until then wontfix.
