Honestly,, I have *no* idea how luatex searches for shared libraries.
DOes it use the usual ldconfig approach, then Hilmar's advice should
be sufficient.
If it is really only specific to luatex, maybe I patch the texmf.cnf
to contian
CLUAINPUTS = .;/usr/lib/texlive/{$progname,$engine,}/lua//
For the moment, if you just want to override that one, simply drop
a file
/etc/texmf/texmf.d/50cluainputs-fix.cnf
which just contains CLUAINPUTS resetting, and then after calling
update-texmf
all should be fine.
Any other suggestions?
