thanks! I've added a Recommends in the experimental branch of the Vcs-Git. A Depends would be too strong IMO since mat(1) can be used on headless machines that have no use for GTK+, and Recommends are enabled by default, so the vast majority of desktop users will then have a working GUI as a result.
