Package: backintime-gnome
Version: 1.0.36-1
Severity: normal
Hallo,
a fresh install of backintime in standard jessie,
will give u 2 gui options:
- backintime
- backintime-root
the root option is invoked with the su-to-root script,
the behaviour then seems that config files get written to the user home dir,
instead of the root home dir;
so if u want to use backintime as a normal user, then u run into trouble,
the root profile gets loaded, and u cannot change anything.
solution:
1. (re)move all the backintime (.config and .local) in the user home dir
2. use a menu editor to change the backintime-root option to
gksu backintime-gnome
U may need to install gksu and alacarte
This can be tested from a terminal as well
ie
the standard: 'su-to-root -X -c backintime-gnome ' vs 'gksu backintime-gnome'
If su-to-root is not meant to write it's configs to the users home dir,
then this is a su-to-root bug
mvg,
Wim
