I was trying to view a PNG with the following properties: 05_Xak_2_-_Het_Kasteel.png: PNG image data, 6000 x 26000, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced (it can be downloaded here: http://www.msx.org/downloads/xak-ii-map ) After a while, gnome-shell crashed and I was forced to log-out... My machine has 8GB of RAM, so I wasn't expecting this. Viewing in other viewers works a lot better....
