I plugged a cable into the "Headphone" jack and poked the other end with my finger. I heard the telltale buzz in the headphones which leads me to suspect that the "Headphone" jack is in fact a Line-in.
Since alsamixer reports this jack as a Headphone jack as well, I suspect that this is not a bug in pavucontrol nor pulseaudio after all, but in alsa. I will reassign it. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [email protected]
