-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Package: upgrade-system Version: 1.7.2.3 Severity: normal
/usr/sbin/upgrade-system sets LC_ALL hard to C.UTF-8 There are at least two problems with that: - - C has no UTF-8 locale usually and is clean 7bit - - UTF-8 is not always the right choice for output and will have strange side effects on some terminals if the terminal is running with different charset. Instead I suggest two possible solutions: - - Using the language settings the user/admin of the system has set. This has the advantage that the choice of them is properly used so no side effects are expected. - - Use plain C charset. That might be needed for some tools to force them using only 7bit. However, I think that is the least good solution as it will disregard the user/admin choice. - -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (800, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (110, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.0.7 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to de_DE) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) - -- Klaus Ethgen http://www.ethgen.ch/ pub 4096R/4E20AF1C 2011-05-16 Klaus Ethgen <[email protected]> Fingerprint: 85D4 CA42 952C 949B 1753 62B3 79D0 B06F 4E20 AF1C -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQGcBAEBCgAGBQJVwJKoAAoJEKZ8CrGAGfasha4L/1rk+ZFaa9NjSgSn/HpdiuhA JWIY06/vIdEdanqNBp0aDBCaXDHGxvC0JcjonMQTupE9fDjJqptJuA+Vr21fBjE1 4KjjVeK1rpSvaUaqLvwGzf/6MGsyWPoCNyQEsETdGdBnBqaAy0nevFWnjRkbkE66 4de4Jur+CNbX0ShD+5BM37Udc59TrSTZEdFdhNL7jEBj6ZUKWiifsCnJX+7ZLUn2 CBMXmXkVNfH868RB5+Uz6VEi+0NYFOKMY14RW4gPJpALZcSVKINq5H4X5yF2uIJ3 LGH+5DWpibuSPQhRj7XWgu1VaAyqBp0Gv+/5pm0PmHh96YpmxkjAqCiN3t0yGMKJ gICxffc/7HpcIqF50xrCvYJP4Po/+yH/elrem/SrjAzulMUMVngCKJ/FG8vYFdLJ bzFWhYqgnp11cGL+K29lkqQElIIY9xUmU571ate+BAhJyVT6SjYJKGNTGKQSlybI t1BEQsDKopgpTY5m2MPsmt8eyCFH7U3CZccM6N6FVg== =fVyH -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
