Package: base-files Version: 9.2 Severity: wishlist The Creative Commons licenses are quite popular for non-code files and at least some of them are acknowledged to be DFSG-compatible since 3.0. <https://wiki.debian.org/DFSGLicenses> only explicitly lists CC-BY-SA, but I believe at least the more permissive CC-BY is also compatible.
I think it would be helpful to add the texts for these to /usr/share/common-licenses so that they don't have to be included in the copyright files of multiple packages. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.0.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages base-files depends on: ii gawk [awk] 1:4.1.1+dfsg-1 ii mawk [awk] 1.3.3-17 base-files recommends no packages. base-files suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
