Thanks for forwarding the bug to upstream.

I have not investigated this yet, but I think that it might be worth playing
with pandoc and telling it which Markdown flavor we are talking about, since
it defaults to its own flavor, which is not the same as when you specify it
to use the input format markdown_github.

I first encountered this kind of stuff when converting my own project's
coursera-dl README.md to README.rst, so that PyPI could, at least, render
the README file in an acceptable manner (other than messing up completely
with the formatting).

I will, anyway, upload a new version of youtube-dl to unstable very soon
(hopefully, this week).
