OK. This will be fixed in the next upload. Version 0.9.0.8 has an
issue[1] so I'm hesitating with this. I will close this bug with

Your bug report contains two more issues (that rather should be
reported separately):

Could you please be more verbose next time. I can not reproduce the
problem. I'd suggest waiting for the next upload and check if this
works.

That's wrong. Packages in contrib usually have a free license (and the
license of translate-shell did not actually changed but was always PD.
The rationale for the package in contrib is that it depends from
non-free data. It is not my prefered choice but I needed to accept
this.
