This is not simply a user error. I am having the exact same issue on multiple machines running "upgraded software", specifically Debian 8 and Ubuntu 14.04. I reckon that this is closer to a system or drivers error that occurred in a recent modification to underlying programs, but I'm not the expert. My Debian 7 Servers seem to have no problem with this, just Debian 8 and equivalent. Not to mention that it was working perfectly *before* the upgrade and that nothing else was changed as far as configurations are concerned.
