Hi, A new upstream release is prepared in the PAPT repository which would fix the bug for deprecated python-support. The repository also contains other packaging changes (e.g. switch from cdbs to dh).
I am not sure why the work stopped, but it may be better to do the upstream release rather than NMU. Regards, Ross
