What would it take for us to start making that transition? Other distros have standardized on Debian's /etc/hostname for consistency; can we standardize on /etc/locale.conf to match other distributions? In theory a symlink should suffice, if we can determine the right package to establish the symlink. We could then work towards having PAM and other things reading from that file. - Josh Triplett
