Indeed, they have merged the patch that we had formerly applied to the
Debian package.

The latest upstream version was released on Oct 31 and uploaded to
Debian on Nov 02, so it is already there.

I still have no idea what problem you describe. Please tell us which
command line you use and which messages yquake2 emits.
