yesterday a new release of avrdude was released by Joerg Wunsch. http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/avrdude/avrdude-6.2.tar.gz With this release some important bugs has been fixed. It would be excellent to make an update and a new package for it. When you have not the time - how can i make a package for it? Maybe it can be released at the download page of avrdude instead.
