According to <URL:https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=gitit>, it is “Section: haskell” in every available version in Debian. In earlier releases, the “Package: gitit” stanza is missing the “Section” field (so the binary package defaults to the section declared for the source package): <URL:https://sources.debian.net/src/gitit/0.10.4-2/debian/control/> <URL:https://sources.debian.net/src/gitit/0.10.0.1-1/debian/control/> <URL:https://sources.debian.net/src/gitit/0.7.3.6-1/debian/control/> The “0.10.7-4” and “0.11.1.1-2” releases have corrected the ‘debian/control’ fields, but the archive still knows the previous section. When the two conflict, the package stays in the section where it was. You'll need to submit a request to move the package to a different section. To alter the actual section that a package is put in, you need to first make sure that the debian/control file in your package is accurate. Next, submit a bug against ftp.debian.org requesting that the section or priority for your package be changed from the old section or priority to the new one. Use a Subject like override: PACKAGE1:section/priority, [...], PACKAGEX:section/priority, and include the justification for the change in the body of the bug report. For more information about override files, see dpkg-scanpackages(1) and https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#maintincorrect. <URL:https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch05.en.html#override-file> -- \ “I have said to you to speak the truth is a painful thing.
