To my surprise the CUDA 7.0 upload has missed the ppc64el architecture. See LINUX POWER8 section at: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit-70 there is indeed ppc64el package present: http://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/7_0/Prod/local_installers/rpmdeb/cuda-repo-ubuntu1404-7-0-local_7.0-28_ppc64el.deb That deb package is of size ~600MB.
