The backtrace doesn't tell me much, it should be more informative for the upstream developers. It's a shame QGIS 2.8.5 is still in NEW, so you can't easily test with that. I'll test with my locally built packages to make sure the issue is still present in 2.8.5 before forwarding this issue upstream.
