IIRC, patches that btrfsprogs recognise the kernel version that is actually running (and the features supported / not supported by that version) are only about to be merged.
So if Debian provides very new btrfsprogs for very old kernels, that could cause troubles. Apart from that, beware that --repair may be dangerous and cause more harm than doing good. Typically it's rather a "last resort option" than the repair modes of other filesystems' tools. You're highly advised, that if you need repair mode, that you ask first at the linux-btrfs mailing list, describing your exact problem and at best wait for some developer to give advise (e.g. whether to use -- repair or not).
