Followup-For: Bug #589520 Package: openssl Version: 1.0.1k-3+deb8u2 Dear Maintainer,
Bug still exists in Debian Jessie, at least with s_client (haven't tried s_server): - using s_client with a DNS name that returns only an AAAA record fails with "gethostbyname failure" - using s_client with "[ipv6-address]:portnumber" addressing schema fails with "gethostbyname failure" as well Please consider assigning a higher severity to this bug. It's not just a "wishlist" thingy. It's quite annoying if you are in an IPv6-only network, where IPv4 is not available. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages openssl depends on: ii libc6 2.19-18+deb8u1 ii libssl1.0.0 1.0.1k-3+deb8u2 openssl recommends no packages.
