Hi,

This bug is difficult to grasp.

I launched the command:
   pkg-config --exists gtkextra-3.0 --print-errors
and got this reply:
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtkextra-3.0.pc'
   to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
   No package 'gtkextra-3.0' found

Then I grepped and hacked around, and I could check that the necesary
.pc file is provided by libgtkextra-dev, as
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/gtkextra-3.0.pc

And, strangely enough, later I launched the command again:
  pkg-config --exists gtkextra-3.0 --print-errors
... this command reported a success.

So I believe that there is some instability coming from pkg-config
rather than from the package gtkextra. Maybe a wrong list of considered
directories? With my architecture, relevant directories can be :
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/
but also : /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu as I enabled this other architecture
at some time.

Does pkg-config take the right directory (or directories) by default?

Should I reassign the bug to pkg-config?

Best regards, Georges.
