So if Debian provides very new btrfsprogs for very old kernels, that could cause troubles.
It's a bit of a hack, and as far as I can tell each new version of a backport of btrfs-tools would need control to be updated, but why not add "linux-image (>= 4.3)" as a depend for 4.3-1~bpo8+1? I am willing to maintain this backport.
