Hi,
i am the Uploader who maintains the ./debian repository of

When i took over, i asked for advise about "Multi-Arch:" and
"Pre-Depends:"

I got clear statements not to use them from Niels Thykier, Jakub Wilk,
and Santiago Vila:

Wookey had some mild scruples:

So we would have to discuss the topic again on debian-mentors
before i noob will override the opinion of the experts.
all these comments are about the Pre-Depends field. and I can't see anything
that explicitly forbids this at this point of time. This attribute doesn't hurt
for now, hundreds of packages still have it. I think nobody questions to make
library packages M-A same.
