Please consider adding this to the Jessie installer? I have followed those instructions on an existing install, and since it was booted using BIOS compatibility I can't set the EFI variables. I have GRUB2 configured, but when booted it can't find the device.
This would be easily resolved with the fixes backported to the Jessie install image. I'm not sure about the newer kernel, but I see no reason why the stable kernel is an issue?
