Hi Nicholas, today while researching something for a user I found this gem in POSIX:
-e editor Use the editor named by editor to edit the commands. The editor string is a utility name, subject to search via the PATH variable (see XBD [8]Environment Variables). The value in the FCEDIT variable shall be used as a default when -e is not specified. If FCEDIT is null or unset, [9]ed shall be used as the editor. http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/utilities/fc.html#tag_20_44_04 I thought you might want to know, and revert your change to use ex(1). I’m posting this to both old bugreports so the BTS archives contain the complete discussion/information in case someone wonders about this in the future; I’ll re-archive these bugs directly afterwards. bye, //mirabilos -- Yay for having to rewrite other people's Bash scripts because bash suddenly stopped supporting the bash extensions they make use of -- Tonnerre Lombard in #nosec
