Package: ipw2100-source
Version: 1.1.3-1
Severity: important

Hello,

I am not sure, whether I should contact the ipw2000 maintainer
directly, if so I apologise for the following bug report.

First I installed Knoppix 3.7 which ships a 2.6.9 and 2.4.27 kernel,
that system has the ipw2100 driver installed, which corresponds to the
1.2 version of firmware.

I recently tried to compile and install a 2.6.10 kernel and so
installed the corresponding kernel header and the ipw2100-source
package which corresponds in my understanding to the 1.3 version of
firmware. So I installed the relevant fw files.

However when booted the new kernel the wireless card was no longer
recognised. The strange thing is that the relevant moduls seems to be
loaded.
ipw2100 150756 0

evdev 9600 0
ieee80211 45544 1 ipw2100
ieee80211_crypt 6404 2 ipw2100,ieee80211
ieee1394 110644 0

But when reading dmesg I found

But ipw2100-1.3.fw is in

 /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware

(Together with version 1.2 of)

Do I miss some init script, I even used the 2.6.9 config script of
knoppix for the kernel and recompiled, it did not work.
The knoppix kernel produces the following dmesg:
hw_random hardware driver 1.0.0 loaded
ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
ieee80211: loading with WEP enabled.

eth0: Using hotplug firmware load.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards
