tag 815263 + wontfix thanks I don't like the sound of this - there are a couple of issues. The slow build tests can use a local mirror which counteracts most of the problems with running debootstrap. The maintenance burden of a debootstrap shim also does not seem worthwhile. It matters that debootstrap actually works and various options require binaries inside the image to actually work as well as the various parent directories which are just a mass of inconsistencies waiting to bite.
