I think I'll remove that support. Simple JPEGs will be supported. May
you know any details, how much percent JPEG2000 is used?
Apparently some science software uses it, but when I made a jasper
security upload in the past, finding samples "in the wild" wasn't easy,
it's a very fringe format.
JPEG2000 is used more than may be immediately obvious. For example,
it is supported within Adobe's PDF format and is the basis for DCI
which provides the delivery format used for digital cinema (as most
have been watching for years now).
While Jasper may be "unsupported" it is proven to be portable to
almost any OS or hardware type. OpenJPEG also has current support
issues, suffers from porting issues, and there are current security
notices posted (three more today) about it. OpenJPEG is fresher and
more modern than Jasper. There is no panacea.
