Hi, I have been also affected by this bug recently when cross-compiling x86-64->i386. The workaround suggested by Ryan C. Underwood worked for me fortunately. I would only suggest renaming the created file scripts.bz2 to scripts.tbz2 (or .tar.bz2) to make it readable for some tools (particularly Midnight Commander in my case).
