Ok, now how shall I do that, modprobe ide-cd loads that module I looked in the cdrecord manual and in the cdrecord.conf but did not find any reference to that options. Of course I can't just rmmod ide-scsi, that will lead to a collapse of my system. Another possibility would be to recompile the kernel which I have to do anyhow. CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDESCSI=n Sorry for that elementary question. lsmod does show ide-scsi loaded? And is ide-cd loaded? Anyway, even if ide-scsi is still being loaded, try to use cdrecord with the dev=/dev/hdX option, for example cdrecord dev=/dev/hdX -data someimage.iso. If you use XCDRoast, please add the device manually and enter /dev/hdX as the device. Tell us if it works then.
