Can you check that laptop mode applies any settings before you unplug the
power? E.g. by booting without AC or checking some setting that is changed
from Linux's default even on AC.

In my case, in like 5 out of 6 boots laptop mode does not apply hdparm
settings which means my disk keeps spinning indefinitely. Unplugging the power
after the boot obviously helps, but it's irritating that I need to do that.

(And I'm not able to find anything interesting in the logs you attached, did
you not turn VERBOSE on?)
