I've been compiling it on wheezy and installing on wheezy & jessie. I've also been doing some work (not included here, as it's not ready for public consumption, but deployed to my servers) to make the burp server run as user 'backup' out of the box on Debian & to not leave world-readable files with backups & passwords lying around.
