First of all, I am sorry for maybe having filed this for the wrong package.
I did an strace on soffice.bin and found that segfault occurs while checking the dri cards. Changing permissions on /dev/dri/card0 resolved the problem for the first user. Still, this seems strange to me, as other users do not have the problem. I then googled a bit and found, among others, this thread on a mailing list: <http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0501.3/1748.html> Maybe this can be helpful for you. As I read in other postings, this could be an X.org problem rather than an OOo problem, i.e. changing the permissions also resolves my problems with glxgears.
