Secondly, I wasn't sure whether to actually change the subject line so I didn't because my situation is similar. This bug reproduced itself on my system. "apt-get upgrade" shows 21 packages while "apt-show-versions -u" only shows 18 in the works of needing attention for my setup right now. These three are the ones apt-get shows that apt-show-versions does not: libnet-dns-perl php-text-languagedetect php-xml-svg In case something about the following helps distinguish what's causing the glitch, both currently acknowledge these 18 as needing upgraded: chromium cpp cpp-5 firefox-esr g++ g++-5 gcc gcc-5 gcc-5-base libasan2 libblkid1 libgcc-5-dev libmpx0 libpulse-mainloop-glib0 libpulse0 libstdc++-5-dev php-horde-mongo tzdata My apologies that this has been going on for several months. I just hadn't been able to cognitively pull together the correspondence to report it. :) For kicks while writing this up, I just upgraded apt-get's 3 singly then ran apt-show-versions after each. Nothing changed in what apt-show-versions reported. That's all I can think of right now. Thank you again *so much*!
