Thank you, Steve, for your detailed comment. What's certainly different now from 6 years ago is:
Parts of Boost have made it into the standard library of C++11. Which makes them obsolete qua part of Boost, except transitorily to support non-compliant compilers. I would see this as one reason more not to bundle all of Boost. - Joachim
