So can you explain how to install php5-mysqlnd AND owncloud, keeping the
update and security system intact, s when you update the one the other
does not get removed ?

Actually it is impossible to install together owncloud and php5-mysqlnd
since installing one remove the other and there is no other way that to
fiddle with status file or repackaginp php5-mysqlnd to have the two
working on the same machine, but of course tainting the update
distribution system.
