Hi, thank you, I didn't notice the version mismatch. Seems like the latest version for Debian/testing is 1.10.4-1 on all debian servers ( https://packages.debian.org/stretch/mate-sensors-applet) whilst all the other packages are already upgraded to MATE 1.14. I installed 1.14.0-1 from unstable and it works now.
