My .sbuildrc is the one in /usr/share/doc/sbuild/examples/example.sbuildrc. My /etc/schroot/chroot.d/stretch file is like this: [stretch] type=directory description=Debian stretch directory=/chroot/stretch groups=sbuild root-groups=sbuild preserve-environment=true command-prefix=eatmydata Hope this helps.
