Package: krb5-kdc-ldap
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When deploying an LDAP KDC, the LDAP configuration needs the kerberos schema
file. However, this file is treated as documentation and therefore is
compressed. This means that when deploying, it must be extracted somewhere
(probably /etc/ldap/schema ) before being included. In addition to being an
extra step that other distributions do not require, this means that updates to
kerberos.schema in the krb5-kdc-ldap package will not propogate to users.

Packaging in this manner was requested as part of 1.6 in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=479239 but I don't see a
justification there for these being documentation rather than configuration.
Is there a reason they're treated as such?

Thanks!
