I followed your advice about "(host+f), view->status-bar-> show status bar" and visited the thread you provided, but nothing helped. I upgraded virtualbox to version 5.0.24, but nothing changed again. Could the problem arise from the fact that I'm running LXDE? P.S. I found a workaround which somewhat solves my problem. After the virtual machine starts, I hit Host+M to minimize the windows, and when I restore it, the mini toolbar magically shows up. Another interesting thing for the new version is that a running virtual machine now has only one icon on the taskbar, while in 5.0.20 it had two. I feel this might have something to do with the problem... any opinions?
