Hi, after some more investigation:
The error is caused by a system-wide profile in /etc which includes bash_completion even when invoked by dash. So this is not a bug of backupninja in Debian! It can be closed. Thank you! And sorry for false alarm. Alles Gute, Christof Thalhofer --
