Package: synaptic
Version: 0.57.7.1
I have a PC with an AMD64 +3500 cpu chip. I run up-to-date Debian
unstable, "i386" port. I have been running the
"linux-image-2.6.14-2-386" kernel. I just installed (using Synaptic) the
"linux-image-2.6.15--k7" kernel and related packages including
"linux-headers", "linux-source", etc. After the installation, "uname -a"
returns:
Linux box 2.6.15-1-k7 #1 Wed Jan 18 15:54:27 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
"ls -l /lib/libc.so.6" returns:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2006-01-15 18:56 /lib/libc.so.6 -> libc-2.3.5.so
Then I removed the 2.6.14 packages. There is "residual config" for
"linux-image-2.6.14-2-386". Synaptic hangs when I attempt to remove the
residual config. Synaptic's terminal window shows:
(Reading database ... 122458 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing linux-image-2.6.14-2-386 ...
Purging configuration files for linux-image-2.6.14-2-386 ...

Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-1-k7
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-1-386
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done
If I hit CNTL-c in the teminal window, I get the message:
E: linux-image-2.6.14-2-386: subprocess post-removal script killed by
signal (Interrupt)
Is this a bug? How do I remove the residual config?
