To be more precise I redid the whole thing: unpacked the kernel and compiled with the following command line. This time everything worked like a charm, I have no idea what went wrong yesterday. The commandline I used is the following. Which leads me to a question: in the documentation you write that an initrd kernel is recommended, but the compile-command you do not specify "--initrd" which is the propper way to compile? fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --added-patches suspend2 --config menuconfig kernel_image Unfortunately the suspend-resume operation failed on my laptop. It suspends, but when resuming a whole bunch of "debug some-thing" messages i printet (no log is written of this) and X is restarted. -- Regards Martin Leopold.
