That's what you get if you enter the homepage on archive.org. This URL will always work, give at least less an impression of an abandoned project, and should be available e.g. in Russia. The only drawback is it might be changed again. Personally I think this is a right of an upstream author, which we shouldn't remove, at least not if the current homepage is about the software. And personally I'd assume that the homepage won't change again. I didn't test if the asterisk is accepted in d/control.
