For XFCE, xdg-mime uses info_gnome / gvfs-info
gnome*|cinnamon|lxde|mate|xfce)
info_gnome "$filename"

However, gvfs-info is not installed on a default XFCE box (while "mimetype" or
"file -i" are installed).
