Just to let you know, I've given up on backporting ring. I lack the spare time needed to push it forward. Upstream seem uninterested in patches to make backports easier and I lack the time to push the issue. And the gnutls maintainers ignored my requests for help and I lack the time to push that forward too.
The issues at hand is V4L2 compatibility (patch available) and gnutls crashes. I was never able to figure out why gnutls crashes. It would still be great to have a backport to Jessie, as it would allow people like me who use the stable Debian release on our laptop (which is the majority according to popcon.debian.org) to use Ring today instead of waiting for the next stable Debian release. But it would have to be done by someone with more spare time available. :) -- Vennlig hilsen Petter Reinholdtsen
